It'll be our first trip to the festival and I'm psyched. Since we're from Virginia well get to try alot of beer we can't get here. It be cool to meet some of you guys too. If anybody has any recomendations for stuff to check out in the area let us know. My brother lives in Eugene so we'll be there earlier in the week and have his car to take some road trips.
I live about 20 minutes north of Eugene. There are several good beer places that you can visit before heading up to Portland. Good places in Eugene would be Ninkasi Brewing. They do not have a formal tasting room but if you show up during working hours, you should be able to get a tasting. There is also Oakshire Brewing. I think that they only do tours on Saturday, but check it out. The Bier Stein is a great bottle shop and cafe. They always have a great rotation draft selection. Rogue has a brewery there too called Eugene City Brewers.
Springfield has a newer brewpub called the Hop Valley. They have solid food and good beer. A bit further out in Corvallis is the brewpub Block 15. Good food and a good selection of beer. Oakridge, which is about 45 minutes from Eugene has a nice Real Ale pub called Brewers Union. All their beers are served from handpump.
Enjoy your trip!
