If you want to avoid being surprised on competition dates in the future, I try to maintain a fairly comprehensive brew competition calendar at http://foz.planzo.com

Feel free to spread the URL around. I do my best to keep it up to date with the competitions I find out info about.

Although it doesn't have the nice calendar format, you can check here as well: http://www.bjcp.org/apps/comp_schedule/competition_schedule.php

I have a pretty good system worked out for packing.

I put the bottle labels on with 2 rubber bands. Then I wrap each bottle with a square of bubble wrap and a rubber band. I put the wrapped bottles in ziploc bags (2 to a bag) and layer the bags in a box filled with packing peanuts. I put all my paperwork and entry fees in an envelope, put the envelope in a plastic bag and put it on the top of the peanuts. Then I tape everything shut and ship it via fedex.

My girlfriend thinks I'm anal retentive. I say I'm just being safe :)

Rob, I'm going to enter a couple of comps in NY. I think they are in April and of course, the nationals. It's great for us because the regional judging site is in Philly. The cider entries go to NY for judging.

If it wasn't so damn cold (i.e. the garden hose is frozen), I would brew more. I read my score sheets and I can't wait to improve my beer.
