Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival

Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:01 am

The Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival is this weekend in Anchorage Alaska, Friday and Saturday January 18th and 19th. I've been laying low since my last pneumonia beer tour to Prague/Germany/Oktoberfest trip that almost took me out last September so this is a bit of a coming out party. (No Bub, not like JP finally admitting his undying love for you and agreeing to allow you to release the 'Bub Basement Tape" where the two of you recreated the gimp scene in Pulp Fiction.) But, I digress.

The GABBF is a great event bringing Alaska breweries and west coast breweries, such as Lagaunitas and the 21st Amendment, which as you know is at 563 2nd Street... Sam Calagione from Dog Fish Head will be the guest speaker at the Great Northern Brewers Club event, Thursday January 17th at 7PM at Cafe Amsterdam.

And now the plug:

The 21st Amendment will be pouring Cans of our 21A-IPA, Watermelon Wheat. We also will be serving on draft the Double Trouble Imperial IPA, Lower De Boom Barley Wine and for the Connoisseur Session on Saturday from 2-5 PM, we'll be pouring the Oyster Point Oyster Stout. I hope to see you there.

Cans? That's right, cans.

Wish I could go, it sounds like an awesome event... but aside from the staggering distance from Texas to Alaska, I'm afraid that I would freeze solid. I'm a Texan... 50F is cold to me.

But you may need it for Sully's Vespa. That's who you were planning to ride up there with, wasn't it?
