Corny ball lock to Sankey tap convertor?

Mon Jan 07, 2008 8:31 pm

I could swear that somewhere I saw a convertor gizmo that snapped onto a standard Corny ball lock keg beverage post and changed it to a Sankey tap. Anyone recall seeing this kind of thing-a-mah-jig?

I'm not sure if I understand the question as asked. I don't know what you mean by "changing your corny ball lock post to a sanke tap". If you are asking how you can switch back and forth between cornies and sankeys in your kegerator - then I have the solution.

I use the flare nut and barb fittings (that normally screw onto the corny ball locks) on all of my gas and liquid connections in my kegerator. No brainer for cornies - just hook up the normal black and grey ball lock posts. Then on my sanke taps, I put a barb/flare fitting on both the gas and the liquid.

Thanks MyloFiore for the kind reply.

Here is the whole story:
I have friends with standard Sankey kegs in their Kegerators. They are requesting my beer to put in their Kegerators. However, they do not want to chop off the Sankey tap heads to switch over to the Corny tap kegs as I have done with my Kegerators. The easy solution would be to find a simple inline convertor. Now I swear one night years ago after several Belgian Strong Ales I saw somewhere, (internet perchance), a convertor that did exactly this. At the time I had no interest so I paid little attention to the device. Now I am quite interested in finding this gadget again. Am I suffering from the Delirium Tremors or does this jigger exist? Am I doomed to now buy pony kegs, or sixth kegs and figure out how the heck to clean and fill these puppys?

I don't think there is such thing. I would convert to cornies and if you are really dead set against having to types of couplers then make a rig to fill your cornies off of a sankey.

I don't know of an adaptor that you can use, but with a little work, you can put a splice in the beer line an change connectors. Here's a nice little article.
