Since my brewing gear in California and I'm still Jersey, I went out and bought some commercial offerings for the Holidays. I noticed this little 8.45 oz bottle from Sam Adams. Deep violet bottle with only Sam Adams Triplebock on the side. The top was a cork like in a port. Pour was jet black and opaque. Zero carbonation with sweet syrup nose. Sweeter nose than a barleywine or old ale. No hop aroma at all. First taste: SWEET JESUS, THIS IS HORRIBLE! It's like swigging 10 year old Robitussin that was mixed with last week's coffee grounds from Al's Diner.
