Oops - overshot gravity

Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:53 pm

So I brewed a JBA, had the normal butt-load of issues as the day went on - and I guess I was boiling off more vigorously than I had planned and loss near 1 gallon more than I wanted to. Needless to say, my SG is 1.090 and I was shooting for 1.074.
Question is - should I dilute before pitching my WLP001 that's only had a 1L starter? I'm thinking I should throw in a gallon of boiled water (cooled down to 70F)

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I would. Use boiled water though.

I had a very similar experience with JBA... brewed it for 'Learn to Homebrew Day'... ended up with around 4 gallons post boil...
