Festivals 2007 - Where, When, What?

Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:21 am

Dearest BNers....
the festival season seems to be almost over, and the German in me wants to start planning for the next year already. I thought with our great forum users from all over the country/world we could put together a great database on where, when and what festivals take place throughout the Beer Season 2007.

I will need your help because for some strange reason my boss doesn't want me to research beer websites all day long...weird...

So, let's get together and do it. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Prost and Love
Daniela

How about a junket that goes like this:

July 25-30 Portland for the Oregon Brewer's Festival

www.oregonbrewfest.com

August 1-7 Berlin for the Berlin Beer Mile

http://www.bierfestival-berlin.de/index.php?idcat=24

August 8-12 London for the Great British Beer Festival

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Brit ... r_Festival

I've been going to the OBF for over a decade and it's the best, and I've been to Oktoberfest and GABF. Berlin's my second favorite city, after San Francisco, and it parties hard (The rave was invented there). The GBBF is the frosting on the cake.

Who's up for it?

Us Falcons do a little AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition early on in the year. It's the Doug King Memorial Lager and Specialty/Experimental Beer Competition, and new this year Imperial Anything.

Competiton entry deadline is January 13th, 2007

You can get more details here http://www.maltosefalcons.com/comps/2007DKM/

Of course we also do Mayfaire which is our BIG competiotn of the year, but that date has not been finalized yet. It's usually two weeks before the NHC first round.

Well if you are feeling like a road trip to Pittsburgh I can always arrange an offer you can’t refuse.

How about:

Gales Prize Old Ale '96
Gales Millennium Brew
Koff Porter / Sinebrychoff Porter IV '96
t IJ Zatte
La Trappe Quadrupel - crock aged [thankkfully younger than I am]
Cantillon Lou Pepe Framboise
Westvleteren Abt 12
De Dolle Stille Nacht
Urthel Hibernus Quentum
Lurgashall Special Reserve Mead
J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (Calvados)
Castle Eggenberg Samichlaus Bier 2000
De Hemel Nieuw Ligt Grand Cru

You can always bring pretty boy along. He can use his media skills and critique the ambience in the room. If not lets just say I’m bored and wanted to check in with everyone.

Check out http://beeradvocate.com/events/calendar/2006/10 or http://www.ratebeer.com/Events-Show.asp. They've got a bit of a head start.

I said head.
