I was able to pull off a 3rd for my Kolsch and HM for my Scottish 60/-. Certainly the highlight of the fest was the opportunity to share a bunch of beers with you fellow BNers. Next year will be off the hook.

Congrats Mills! Helluva showing. You were also pouring some fantastic beers at the BN tent! I was fortunate enough to take 2 medals myself. A gold, silver & an honorable mention! Not bad for only entering six beers if I do say so myself!
Cheers! Kevin :aaron

I was only one point away from a HM, missed it by that much. I was happy though being it was only my 3rd all grain on my new system. On another note, I don't think I can post the pics of the "tap handle" I took online, someone might get arrested.

A 37 is a great score! I busted into one of the sour beers that I got from the competition and I really enjoyed it. Did any of the rest of you drink the Velvet Hammer yet?

The grain bill for the Kolsch was pretty much spot on JZ's. I changes the hops to .25oz Hallertau and 1oz Tettnang, both at 60min. For yeast I chose WLP029.

The Scottish 60/- was based on JZ's Scottish Heavy 70/- (not caramelized). I used Golden Promise for the base malt. It always seemed a little light for a 70/-. I entered it in both NHC and Mi Beer Cup as both a 60/- and 70/- and in both comps it scored much better as a 60/-.
