"more than" 50 pounds? So you can park a volkswagen on it? May be better use to 50 pounds as the limit?

7 gallons of water weighs about 7*8.34lbs~58 lbs. My 8 gallon SS pot weighs (IIRC) 17 lbs, so at a total of 75 pounds you will be quite a pushing their "more than" 50 lbs guestimate.

my antique gas stove creaks a little when I'm moving that full load around when trying to get situated so I can use two burners at once, but so far it hasn't collapsed.

I do full boils with my 8 gallon SS on my GE glass cooktop range, but perhaps this thread is making me reconsider. Never had any problems reaching a rolling boil or breaking glasstop in several batches.

I switched to all grain about 10 batches ago, but my pot only holds 5 gallons max (little short on money to get a larger one), so I've been doing my boils with about 4 gallons of wort and then diluting it when I put it into the carboy. Luckily with Beersmith I have been able to use the dilution tool to calculate what my gravity should be pre-dilution and I have been hitting all of my numbers fairly accurately. I know it's less than ideal, but I get the boil going fairly quickly and I have been pleased with the beers I have been getting with this method.
