CO2 line disconnects on outside of kegerator

It is 50% fancy pants and 50% necessity. I only have one CO2 bottle and I need to use it for other things (forcing my carboy contents into a keg, etc) and it'd be nice to kill two birds with one stone with the disconnects. I could have gone with polysophone disconnects, but that would have left a hose hanging out of my fridge.

The fancy pants part of this is driven by a wee amount of necessity as well. The Wife Acceptance Factor of a bright red 10# CO2 canister on the outside of the fridge in the kitchen is pretty low at the moment, so I'm trying to appease her and trying to make sure it looks nice and is squared away. I've even got a small side table that looks like a chest that I'm going to put it in so she doesn't have to look at it. (She can even put some sort of frilly thing on top of it if she wants). It sounds like none of this should matter, but for those of you that are married you know what I'm talking about.

I converted a Sanyo 4917 and made sure it looked nice. It helps that the wife likes beer (hooray!) I got her to agree to kegging because we were collecting bottles and had bottles everywhere and bottling takes a while (both the day of and until you can drink it) so I told her "hey, I'll stop collecting bottles AND it will only take me a few minutes to keg vs. several hours on bottling day."he'She bought all of that. Win!

I've purchased a Sanyo SR-4912M refrigerator and want to Kegerate it.

I've found a great youtube video on putting in the tower, but am getting the willies about punching a gas line through the wall/back of the reefer. The wall looks like a good bet because it has a plastic surface rather than metal as is used on the back.

Is there any electrical/referigerant items on the side walls?

I've measured the thickness and it comes out to about 1 1/8".

Kbar's post of Jan. 19, 2010 took me to a website with a nice bulkhead fitting, but I think that they are telling me that it is 1" Overall. If that's an out-to-out measure, I can't use it. If it's the size of usable bulkhead, it might just work by compressing the wall a bit.

Has anyone purchased that item from McMaster-Carr?
Can you provied me with some info if you've done this yourself. I like the idea of a bulkhead fitting because it will 1. make a nice firm fit, with stresses distributed over a flange (better than just poking a length of pipe through and injecting insulation, in my estimation), and 2. it will look better.
