Kbar - are you saying it is possible to use something higher end to attach gas lines to corny kegs!!?? If so, do tell! Do you just replace the pin lock connetion or both the connector and keg side post?
In this instance, I am going to get Anderson some external disconnects and bulkhead fittings to run through the fridge walls as his CO2 tank is too big for inside the fridge. As for being able to change the style directly on the keg, that is another story. I have not had one apart and do not know what the keg offers in terms of the stud. I need to do some research. If it was a pipe or standard SAE/ISO stud, then the there are a lot of options out there, for valved or checked couplers in lieu of the standard pin and ball lock styles that have been traditionally used. Since no one is actually making Corny kegs anymore (assume?), we can not make a manufacturing change of mind set, so we have to do with what we have. Let me research the interface between the keg and post QD. Thanks!
