Is it good for exterior of pots too? Does it scratch? Seems like it'd be good to passivate to boot.

It is good for stainless steel, copper, brass, porcelain and most kitchen surfaces (including those glass stove tops). It's a non-abrasive oxalic acid cleaner. I would hesitate using it on aluminum due to the acid. Just make sure you don't combine it with a chlorine or caustic cleaner. You will get some dangerous fumes.

It is a scouring powder like Comet. I use it to clean the bottom of my brew kettle if I happen to scorch it. From what I understand it passivates the metal so no other passivation is necessary.

or jasco metal prep which is phosphoric acid and water. cleans anything organic, iron, or greasey based off metal. only metal you cant soak is galvi.. the zinc will be eatin i guess. ss, brass, copper, alum come out brilliant. $7/gallon at ace. green stuff. etches a lot of surfaces like garage floors when you kick over the soaking dish.
