the beer gun was worth every penny of it's purchase price to me - it's very easy to use

just buy some extra tips - I lost one in a bottle once and the beer gun started spraying beer everywhere
On tap 1: Dry Irish
On tap 2: El Jefeweizen
On tap 3: Vienna
kegged: Rye Amber, Belgian Dark Strong, CYBI Mirror Pond, Irish Red, RIS
lagering: Vienna, Helles, Cream Ale, CAP

i used to hate filling bottles by CPF. I used to waste so much beer and make a big mess. Then someone told me to chill the beer to 32F, drop the pressure of the keg down to 3 psi, pull a pint off the keg for drinking while working, and have at it.

It was the world of difference! now i waste about 2-3 milliliters of beer per bottle instead of half a beer per bottle.

Another trick is to play with the bleeder valve so that it doesn't fill to fast (or too slow).
suck it

I stick a broken racking cane with a stopper into a picnip tap and bottle that way. Holds carbonation great, wastes very little beer, and is extremely cheap and easy.

Just throwing in another idea.

What is the process to bottle with a beer gun? does it go from ferment straight to bottling with the beer gun?
(I'm new to all this. But can't stand the idea of being drunk and accidentally drinking all the yeast residue at the bottom of my beer because I used natural carbonation. :) )

beer gun is for filling from a keg that has already been cabonated. well i guess you could rack into a keg with priming sugar in it and then use a beer gun to fill your bottles and let them bottle condition, but most people just use it for pre carbonated beer filling. think of it as the CPF w/o a seal.
Cheers!

Since this thread has new posts I'll give an update. I entered the four beers, didn't win anything. For my results see my thread in the Brewing Events forum.

Of the four beers, two were sugar primed and bottle conditioned and two were keg conditioned and carbonated. All four beers had full marks for carbonation levels. It took me a few tries to get the carbonation right but once you get it figured out apparently you are good to go.

I want to brew some beers for aging and want as much of the yeast out of the bottle as possible so I'm pretty happy with this device.

I do think the key is to get the beer carbonated and very cold before you use the beer gun. My bottles weren't particularly cold and that didn't seem to be a problem.
