Types of CO2?

Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:00 pm

This might seem like a dumb question. But is the CO2 used to fill up fire extinguishers, the same as that used in a keg system?

Having trouble finding CO2.

Cheers

Assuming it's really CO2, then I guess it's the same. CO2 is pretty darn simple, 1 carbon atom, 2 oxygen ones.

There's 2 types of places to get it filled:

1) Your local paintball supply/military surplus store (same store for me and that's where I go).
2) Your welding/gas supply shop. The issue with this at least the one here is that they actually swap tanks with you. So what happens is that you end up taking in your brand new tank and getting a dingy beat up tank. That's why I recommend idea 1.

Where do you live?

I like in Cusco, Peru. Hence the problem finding CO2.

Try the welding option then. Also, you should set your location in your profile and Buena suerte.

My usual place for getting my CO2 tanks filled is a place that sells and services fire extinguishers. It's the same CO2 you can get anywhere.

I go to my local homebrew shop. But welding shops and fire extinguisher stores work.
