Teach a friend to Homebrew day

Wed Oct 22, 2008 6:27 pm

OK so being someone who has yet to take the plunge and learn to home brew, I find it interesting that this isn't listed in the events page.
I only found out about this because one of the homebrew clubs just north of me (Fredricksburg Brewing Insiders: http://www.fredhomebrew.org/) has teamed up with Blue & Grey Brewing Co (http://www.blueandgraybrewingco.com/) and Roxbury Farm and Garden Store to sponsor one such event.
Details:
Join us Saturday, November 1, from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm at the brewery, stop by and say Hi! The FBI prize winning brewers will be on hand to explain brewing techniques and to demonstrate just how easy it is…Roxbury Farm and Garden will be there with available supplies to start your first batch of home brewed delicious beer!!!
The FBI will be brewing an easy to make, easy to drink, American Blond Ale!! The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is an international event to introduce people to the homebrewing hobby.

Right now I am planning to make the 30 + mile trek up there and see if I can't maybe learn something.
I did check to see if the local club near me is doing anything and could not find a thing.

So let me ask you ladies and gents out here. Are there other clubs out there actually making an effort to spread the good word?

I would love to take part in teach a friend to Homebrew day, but I have yet to master the art myself.

The Blue & Grey event sounds like a lot of fun. I went to a similar event for national homebrew day and is was a kick.

The Dead Yeast Society of Lafayette Louisiana will be participating in the AHA's 10th annual Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day.

Marcello's Wine Market
2800 Johnston St
Lafayette, LA

We should be starting around 11:00 AM

We plan to do two brews simutaneously

One will be an extract batch, very simple, minimal equipment.
Aimed at the newcomers and novice brewers.

The other will be an all grain, possibly using a club member's brew sculpture.
Aimed at extract/partial mash brewers who will gain experience by participating in an all grain brew.

Recipies and ideas are still being discussed.

If any of you BNers will be in the area PM me for more details.

Let's do our brewing community proud!

I'll be hosting at my house for the third year running. We'll be making a Pumpkin Ale for the holidays and be nursing our Halloween party hangovers with some fine home brews. If anyone's in N. Utah let me know and come stop by. :jnj

Temecula Valley Homebrewers Association is hosting an event at the Murrieta Homebrew Emporium on Nov 1 from 10-5.

We will have 5 brewers brewing, brauts, someone making some soda and some tech talks including two from some local pros.

Anyone in the Inland Empire area of SoCal is welcome to come by.
