Thursday:

Rhino, DDawg, beerocracy and I set off to find the Park and Ride where we are to meet for the trip to Golden, Boulder and wherever. When we get there we spot the tell tale hop grenade shirt worn by Bugeater. Howdys all around and we discuss if we're waiting on anyone else. Turns out we weren't since ChrisKennedy had to work. We left for Golden City Brewery at 10:45.

Turns out, Golden is not way up in the Rockies as some big brewer had caused me to think. Low foot hills at best. Nice town though. Mrs. Tom-Tom guided us to a residential section and announced that we had reached our destination. Huh? An eagle eyed BNer in the back seat said they saw a sign. On the street we just passed. So after circling around we found it.

We wandered around back to what looked like a tall two-car garage and walked in. The brewer whose name is......... Well, the brewer greeted us and gave us the tour.

I spied this relic gathering dust:

I was really impressed with the way the minimal space was used and the quality of the beer. I had a Gose for the first time and it was really interesting and good. At this point we picked up MegaSwiller and headed for Avery in Boulder.

The drive from Golden to Boulder was real nice - good scenery. We had fun finding Avery. I didn't tell Mrs. Tom-Tom where we were going, relying and a local to get us there - who it must be said was prone to not find it.
"OK turn right on XYZ Street."
"You mean XYZ Street we just passed?"
"Yeah."
"A little late."
I set our destination in Mrs. Tom-Tom as insurance.
The human directed me on short cuts and Mrs. TT must have gotten pissed. When the eagle eyed BNer once again spotted a sign the human guide said "Nope it's not here." Mrs. TT said turn right in a quarter mile. You guessed it. It was where the sign was spotted. On our return Mrs. TT took us right to it. Bitch.

They were pouring quite a few beers! We had a few each and left for Boulder Brewing and lunch. We found it without event.

(That's MegaSwiller back left)
As we expected the beers were good. The food also was good. Although I suspect some hippy shenanigans with my fish and chips: A decided lack of grease, which I wanted to slow the absorption of CH2COOH later. Oh well. We soldier on to Redstone Meadery. I was just the driver and it would not have been my choice, but I'm glad we made the stop, and not just because I'm in the picture.

Image
We were welcomed and treated to a "thumbnail tour" since we all knew the basics. In short order we saw the meadery.

And then we got down to tasting.

May I say the pictures of the mead server do not do her justice. Grrrr.

We considered the time and decided to head back to Denver.

We drop off Bugeater at the PNR and head back to the hotel so I can loose my pants. We get to the GABF about 4:30.

Image
We walk abound and around the convention center and finally find the end of the line. Sumbitch, that's some line! Could be worse though, we could have have been 15 minutes later. Behind us:

Asked Rhino to give me a disgusted look:

He just can't help but look happy.

Well, we did eventually get in.

Then to Wynkoop for no food.

Sucks that I missed it, it looked like a good time.

And the brewer's name at Golden City is Jeff Griffith.

All his beers were great. LOVED the Gose, though. His Saison was awesome, too.

Aye, in my opinion Jeff makes some of the best beer in Colorado. His brown is outstanding as well. And Evolution IPA is delicious.
