The Parkville Fest was a blast.
I don't know the turnout, but it was packed. I think they expected 1500 people.
I was surprised to see that Granit City Brewing Company had some of the best beer at the fest. I was shocked because I expected them to be like Gordon-Biersch or Rock-Bottom. I won't drink that crap.
Anyway, Boulevard had a saison as well as their wit. Augusta Brewing had a nice hefeweitzen (note to self, road trip to this brewery). O’Fallon had the Smoke and 5 Day IPA, which as you might imagine, was dry hopped for 5 days. 75th Street was, as always, great.
One of the local homebrew shops was there, Bacchus and Barleycorn. They made a 5 gallon batch and let people put in hop additions. It was almost enough for me to join their club. I didn’t join because I’m opinionated and antisocial, not to mention rude. Good to see an AHA booth at a brewfest. It should happen more often.
I whored The Brewing Network to anyone who would listen, including any of the brewers, distributors, and beer fans that I could talk to. Of course, I forgot to bring a pen, so I have some calling to do this afternoon.
I was asked who was on the show and when I said Jamil was a regular, they all started gushing about what a truly nice person Jamil is. One guy mentioned that Jamil shared a bottle of Utopias with them at a homebrew conference.
I volunteered to sell tickets from 12:30 to 3:00 and drank after that. I’ll be back next year.
