Anyone use it? I have a demo copy I'm considering registering. I haven't tried anything else yet (other than Beertools), so I'm short on context for evaluating the package.

I have been using Promash for the past year and a half and am quite happy with it. I haven't quite been able to tweak it to give good info on batch sparging, but with my method, I don't need software to figure it out. I did use SUDS when I first started and thought it was pretty good.....until I discovered Promash.

The major brewing software packages all do about the same thing. The user interface seems to be the thing that gets people to decide one way or another. Some folks find the learning curve on Promash to be a bit steep, but I don't mind it at all. One of the deciding factors for me was the availability of recipe collections already in Promash format.

Qbrew is good and free if all you are looking for recipe creation.
Otherwise I know beersmith and promash both have evalution version so you can try those out too.

I use Beersmith. I've been very happy with it. Both beersmith and promash have free trials for 30 days if you want to download them and try them out.

Are any of these programs for a mac OS? I looked at the ProMash website and see they suggest using VirtualPC to run WinBlows programs on my mac and that's going to happen.

When I first started brewing, I downloaded the eval copies of ProMash and BeerSmith. I liked both, but the interface on BeerSmith was more to my liking so I use it now.

Strangebrew is written by a friend of mine, I have a copy and its great. Very accurate mash calculater. It wont run on a mac yet, but there is new software on the market that another friend of mine in England has developed the runs in OSX. Beer Alchemy. Really nice software also.
