question about star san

Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:31 am

I just finished listening to the archive of the sanitation show, but I needed clarification on something. Is it correct that you can add your wort to a fermentation bucket or carboy immediatley after dumping the star san out of it, even if there is some foam left in the bottom. I thought that is what I heard during the show. I did exactly just that on saturday, but now I am worried that I might have screwed my beer up. Should I expect any off flavors or smells because of the foam? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Kevin

According to the 5-star guy (Charlie?)
you CAN dump onto starsan foam or residue with NO problems.

The foam in the fermenter gives me the peace of mind that it has indeed been fully sanitized. No effect on the quality of the beer.

I always dump in right on top of the foam. Usually have foam coming out of the top of the carboy as I'm filling.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
