Another Oregonian

Howdy everyone! My name is Brian Perkey and I am the Customer Service Manager for Wyeast Laboratories. I have only been with the lab for the past 8 months or so, prior to that I have been brewing professionally for the past 15 years. I started with Bridgeport in 1992, moved to Full Sail in '98, then took the Head Brewer job for the San Jose Gordon Biersch Brewpub in 2003. I brewed there for 3 years before moving over to the production plant and brewing for Dan until last October. I am stoked to be back in the PNW and working for Wyeast. It has been driving me nuts having access to all this yeast, so a few hundred bucks into some equipment and I am proud to say I am now a homebrewer. I attended the NHC and was completely BLOWN AWAY! I have attended dozens of beer fest over the years but have never experienced anything like club night. Kudos to the BN for the simulcast work and the rest of the Army for flying the flag.....I am proud to join the ranks!

Welcome to the BN! We have had lots of input from the White Brothers here but haven't heard much from your outfit. Maybe that will change now.

Tell us what you are brewing or planning to brew. We will be glad to make suggestions, answer questions, and maybe even make fun of you from time to time. I think you will like it here.

Seems like you have a bit too much brewing knowledge/ experience for us here. We're just a bunch of asshats that ride a short bus and like playing with turtles!

Welcome, and I hope you can stand us!

I just met both of the Whites recently, both are good guys.....lets see if we can get a little banter going. I did 30 gallons of cider split into six batches in December....all with a different strain. 1056, 1968, 3711 French Saison, 3278 Lambic Blend(my fav so far), Rudesheimer and Champagne. In Feb did a Baltic Porter, March was Denny Conn's RyePA, April was Berliner Weisse, Kolsch in May and last week did 4 batches of Saison with the 3711, 3724, 3725, 3726. I cant frickin wait! On deck are three English ales, IPA, Porter and a Brown. As to ZZ's comment about knowledge/experience....I just have a lot of practical experience brewing a few beers a bazillion times. One thing I have enjoyed so far is the depth of knowledge that homebrewing community has, and wading throught he archives has already filled in some of the gaps for me. Yea Bub, the 3068 is the BOMB!! I used this at GordonBiersch and look forward to doing some for myself this fall. HopRunner and any one else in th PNW, dont miss out on HopMadness2008 in the Willamette Valley. From what I hear, its a great gig. Farm tours, free hops for on site brewing of fresh hop ale...frickin delicious! Check out www.hopmadness.com for details.
