New from the Cleveland, OH area!

Hello all -

I found this group searching for general brewing and keggerator know-how and have become fairly addicted. I am fairly new to brewing, not new to drinking or appreciating great beer though. Now I just need to master the art of making the kind of beers I like to drink. just joined our bigget local brewing club (SNOBS - Society of Northeastern Ohio Brewers) and plan to learn as much as I can from whomever I can.

I have had a 2 tap kegerator for some years. Just made the big jump to a 19.7cu' chest freezer rig that has 10 taps - I'm going for broke on this one (figuratively and litterally)!! Will post pics of said rig soon.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on any subject, makes for great learning!

Hope to talk to many of you soon!

Welcome to the insanity Todd. What kinds of beer do you like? Are you an Extract or All Grain brewer?

I tend to like my beers on the extreme end of things. I've not met an Imperial "anything" I haven't liked, barleywines, huge stouts and porters, big time hoopy IPAs/doubles IPAs, big Strong Ales, and lots of Belgians! I like to put Guinness on my cornflakes, that's how I'd like to wake up in the morning.

Favorite national breweries are Stone, Wyerbacher, New Holland, Dogfish Head, Victory, Alesmith.

I've been getting my kegs filled lately from local microbreweries and sharing with my friends, so the latest expansion is sure to be popular! Buckeye Brewing, Great Lakes, Willoughby Brewing, Hoppin Frog, - all great local breweries!

So far I'm doing extracts as I get some practice under my belt. The two I just amde turned otu rater poor, so I'll chalk it up to a few things i know went wrong: old kits (about a year old), old yeast, and probably some sloppy technique. So I have a very yeasty and winey octoberfest and Irish Red. I'll get better next time. I like the kits from More Beer and want to try some of their more exotic ones soon. The wife said I can take over one of our garage bays for a permanent brewery setup.

Man do I LOVE beer!

Welcome! If you've been lurking for a while, you already know who to watch out for (Bub, JP, pretty much everyone else).

Tell us more about what you drink and what you brew!

And I have to challenge your claim to the snow belt. I'm in Central New York. I went to visit my parents 2-3 weeks ago, and the snow piles had ALMOST melted.

Anywhere near the famous Tug Hill Plateau?

Cleveland proper averages around 45"-50" of snow a year. We live 30 mile east, but 600' or so higher and we've averaged about 137" over the past 6 years or so. Supposedly we're the 5th snowiest city in the US.

Makes those big winter beers taste better after an hour of snow removal efforts every day.
