White trash stirrer

Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:49 pm

Hey hey here are the pics of the white trash stirrer that I built from an old desk fan, 2 magnets, fan dimmer, and small bucket that I had laying around. Easy as pie to make and beneficial to the process.

This thing does the job for sure.

Depending on the fan used, you want to remove any parts that are not needed. ie.. oscillating stuff in my case. Then you will want to wire in the fan dimmer, this is done fairly easily. Locate the side of the wire that connect to the "fat side" which you will connect to the black wires (one from top one from bottom) on the fan dimmer you will splice the other side of the power wire and connect both ends of it with the green wire( wire 3-some) on the dimmer switch. I recommend wiring the thing up using wire nuts to make sure that it is correct then when fittiing it into your base you will want to solder the connections, cover with wire nuts and tape together with electrical tape. I modified the fan "rotor" by trimming off all blades and flattening out the surface that you will be glue the magnents to with a bastard file. I then took the two magnents and super glued them to the remains of the rotor. Once you mount the whole mess into your base you want to secure the power cord so that there will be no chances that it will pull apart and effectively burn all of the stuff in your house to the fuckin ground.

If you are not experienced with electricity at all, dont bother. Also make sure that you buy a ceiling fan dimmer not a light dimmer they are not the same and the light dimmer will not work.

If you need some more pics PM me and I will take them as needed.

Hey, is that bucket UL approved? I have 35 years experience as an electrical engineer and I can tell by looking that you'll probably burn your neighborhood down the first time you plug that thing in. I don't see that you have a framistan in the ramistan either, like I would use, your quandulator is misaligned and also, did you know I invented the saying "Dumb as a bucket of hammers?"

His quandulator may be misaligned but I would be more worried about the can of pressurized oil stored next to the burner :P
