Thanks for the replies I will be checking out some of those sites I have used Northern and been on some of the others. It is time to brew some more beer. I am tire of drinking Sam Adams or the few German or the few foreign beers I can get here.

I buy mostly from Alternative Beverage. But, then, they are my LHBS. I've been buying from Jess for 15 years or so, and have built up quite a bit of loyalty. I'll buy from morebeer, though, when I can't get what I want at AB.

The best place in the world to buy homebrew supplies is you Local Homebrew Shop.

The second best place in the world is one of the sponsors of the BN.

Ya gotta vote for the home team!

Amen Brother!

I can't stress enough how important your local homebrew shop is to homebrewing. Do everything you can to support them, even if it costs a couple extra bucks here and there. For the stuff they can't get for you, our sponsors are the best in the business!
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

I buy nearly exclusively from Northern Brewer. They're kinda my LHBS being 2 hours away, but with $7.99 shipping, it's usually cheaper to buy online than drive there. I do have a LHBS 1/2 hour away, but they tailor to the extract brewers and don't carry grains in bulk. Nor do they carry very many varieties of specialty grains. I went there to buy 10 lbs of pale 2 row and cleaned them out once! I guess all grain isn't real popular in my immediate area.

If it were only a couple bucks here and there, I would love to support my LHBSs. The problem is that almost everything they sell is 50-100% more than the online shops.

I generally buy from MoreBeer, but I decided to try out the two LHBSs in town for ingredients for my next three brews. While I was able to find everything I needed (by going to both shops) it cost me almost double what it would at MoreBeer. From now on, I'll go there for yeast and that's it. I would like to start buying sacks of grain and figured it made sense to buy locally, but the LHBS I talked to today quoted me almost $100 per sack for 2-row and maris otter!

I just wish it didn't take a week to get my stuff from MoreBeer. Oh well, I guess I can't complain about free shipping. I guess I need to throw some more business over to Northern Brewer.
