I am using a parallax propeller microprocessor, here is a link.

I really love this microprocessor, it has 8 seperate processors that each run at 80Mhz, 32 input/outputs so I can control and monitor just about anything

for the temperature probes I am using ds1822 digital 1-wire sensors. With a microprocessor I can add as many sensors as I want all to just 1 common wire and address them individually by a 64 bit address. I have 3 solid state relays to control the asco valves for the gas. The screen is a 2.5" lcd. The Ph sensor I need to change, I am looking at this one right now. I might put this off for a while, it was just doing it because I had a sensor laying around and thought it would be a cool geek factor.

OK, apparently this solution isn't for the faint of heart - and I think I just had a massive coronary looking at the PDF. I'll just keep my little electric timer and stick thermometer for now. Man, do I feel stupid. Bub I hope your magical, hush-hush, to-be wonder solution is easier to hook up than that...

That is really cool. What sort of screen resolution does the VGA out support? And what language is this programmed in? This looks like an engineer's wet dream for DIY projects.

Ok mylo.... the Brew Droid will be much simpler to assemble, BUT will have the potential for much the same if not ALL or MORE functionality as what you see there. I haven't heard about pH yet, but these folx are creative so you never know.
The assembly currently looks like inserting 1 or 2 chips into sockets then wiring the guts to a standard outlet in an outlet box.... so probably 1 hour worth of work... snap on the buttons and faceplate you know simple stuff.
HOWEVER the potential is there (for those who choose to unlock it) to run your entire brewing process and feed your dog.

it is programmed in a language called spin that was created by the company that makes the chip. I have been playing with programming for quite a few years so this was a pretty simple program to write. Now that I have the basic program done it is easy to modify or change anything. As for the brew droid I don't know anything about it. if you have a link I would love to read more about it. on this screen it is just a standard tv reseloution. Here is a link.

I would have gone with a cheaper display but I already had this one for tinkering. The chip is capable of 1280 x 1024 vga display also.

That's awesome. I work for an automotive OEM and have a few small screens available to me(rear entertainment and navigation screens). I'll have to do some more research on this controller and see what I can come up with.
