Calcium sulfate or chloride?

I read some where that calcium sulfate for lowering PH is better in Ales
and Calcium chloride is better in lager/pils . Any views on this

I think the reason for that statement is that sulfates in the water will accentuate the hops in the beer. Since ales tend to have more hop flavor than lagers, this would indicate the use of calcium sulfate.

Myself, I would pay more attention to the amounts of sulfates and chloride ions in the water prior to treatment so as to not overdo either. Remember the use of dark malts tends to lower wort ph in the mash also.

Cheers for that..
We are on spring water where i live so ive only done a few home
tests on the water, So i know its soft water and on the high side in acidity
So i guess ill just test my mash PH and if i need to lower it ill use Calcium chloride as im doing a pils
