Besides using RSS on website home pages (like Push's example on Yahoo, Google and others do the same) or on dedicated RSS readers, browsers such as Firefox or Opera have the RSS feature built in.

I voted for RSS.

As I mentioned in this old thread about RSS here, I do have an unofficial feed of thebrewingnetwork beer forums at the location mentioned in that post.

Shortly after I started regularly reading the green board, I realized it had an RSS feed, and that led to the realization that it was the easiest way to keep up with new topics (See interesting new topic? Read, subscribe for updates, take off pants, rinse, repeat!). Soon I began coveting such a feed for the other two forums I read regularly at the time (B3 and NB). I searched through the forums to see the history of RSS support on them, apparently B3 has had it, lost it, and then had it again a few times. Then one night, I noticed that both of those forums ran the same underlying software, phpBB2. So that led me to the quite right conclusion if I wrote something to make RSS out of new threads on one of the forums, it would likely work on both of the forums.

I had visited this forum a bit in months passed, but after I had the green board, b3, and NB all in RSS, it was hard to come back to no-RSS land. Then a few days back, for some reason I wandered on to this forum and realized it too was running phpBB2. So I added it to the script... One script to read them all, One script to find them, One script to bring them all and with an Imperial Stout I enjoy them... er reading them.

Ironically, when the green board came back up a week or so ago, its RSS was broken :? And now of course it is down.. yet again.

Code has taken a look at it and an RSS feed should be coming online shortly.
