I'm driving out saturday to judge there.

Oh dear. If I stare at your chest the whole time, I blame your excellent choice of avatars.

I understand how the mini-BOS works, but was wondering if each judging region was required to indicate a 1,2, or 3 placement in the awarded box section? If you get an indicated placement can you assume that your entry placed that rank in the final mini-BOS judging? Can you also assume that if no placement was indicated and your beer went to the mini BOS that you did not place with that entry?

Just trying to clear some things up in my befuddled head.

I think I understand your questions, and yes, if the beer places in the mini-BOS (hence category) there should be a mark in the placement box indicating position 1-3. That said, it doesn't always happen that way. Sometimes the placement is only recorded on the flight summary.
If you get an indicated placement on your cover sheet, that usually corresponds directly to the category placement (mini-BOS results).

Again, if no placement was indicated, that may mean that you did not place, or it could just be an incompletely filled out cover sheet.

To summarize: In a perfect world, the cover sheet should be filled out completely and if there is a placement indicated, that is the placement for the category. But, in reality, they aren't always filled out correctly. The placement is meant to indicate overall placement in the category. Mini-BOS isn't always checked if your beer advances to a mini-BOS.

Clear as mud?
I'm sick of chasing my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later.

+1
We try to make sure that the mini-bos check and the final position is recorded properly, but unfortunately, there are always exceptions.

It's more that you've conditioned me to stare... I'll probably get over it after a few hours.
