How about some details? Style/recipe? Sparge technique/profile, etc, etc, etc, etc...

It was a Mirror Pond Pale clone, I tried to hold the temp at 153 but it slowly lowered and I ended up mashing for about 1.5 hours instead of 60, the temp dropped to 135 by the end. I didnt turn the burner on because it was not working as it should so I just let it sit longer. Also it was a 10 gallon batch, and that may be the problem I may have bitten off more then I should have. I am doing 5 gallon batchs until I get it nailed down from here out. details below-
PS- my OG was 1.053

Oversparging, having the pH creep up too high when sparging and having a mash pH too high to begin with can all extract tannins from the grain husks that can give you a grainy flavor. I have had this problem before when using pilsener malts there are 2 ways to fix it at this point:

1. Fine it with PVPP
2. Let it sit another couple weeks at cold temperature, those tannins will eventually settle out.

If that fails, THEN you can dump it, but when in doubt wait a couple weeks.
