Good counting spider .. U might get a medal. Yeah I'll snatch some pH paper strips and test everything. Good idea.

What kind of strips?

I think you could bring cooled first wort to work and also test pH there using a meter. The only concern with this would be wort spoilage that lowers the pH, hence the recommendation to keep the sample chilled. Warm to 25 C before testing.

I'll grow u one from oversaturated salt solution cause remember ... I'm a chemist :)
Idk just pH strips all it needs is a drop and not as expensive as pH meter (free for me). Don't have to warm it up to 25, can just adjust to temperature. I'm more concerned about pH changing during mash.

I previously over estimated, it is closer to 13% of the time than 20%... I'll understand if this means I have to wait on my medal until you increase the number of times you mention it...

I mentioned strips b/c I found that the ColorpHast strips seem to be off by about 0.3: http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php?ti ... me_brewing

pH changes with temperature and that's why testing mash pH at room temp is good practice. pH meter ATC functionality only compensates for the probe's temperature dependent response.

During a single infusion mash, mash pH doesn't change much. It is set at the beginning by balance between the grist's on pH and buffer and the water ions that are trying to move that pH. Your concern would be the mash pH you start with and by how much the pH rises during sparging.
