Obama Homebrew!

Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:16 pm

So here is an interesting article about Obama Brewing in the white house! One of the articles it points to as reference makes note of a historian claiming that according to his research this is the first time beer has been brewed in the white house itself.

While there is a catch that Obama doesn't actually do most of the work that it is his kitchen staff, it is cool that he wants it to happen and is a fan of craft beer!

George Washington was a homebrewer (among other past presidents) and brewed at the White House, but the current White House is not the original White House.

In "this" White House, yes. In "the" White House, ie President's quarters, no.

If you take what I post here literally, you're retarded. I'm here to fuck around, have a good time, and learn about beer. You mean nothing to me and I mean nothing to you.

The White House isn't like air force one where the president's house is always the white house. This White House is The White House and that is how the White House Curator states it in the article I quoted. So please read the article I post before bashing it.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/03/04/134271001/obama-to-serve-more-home-brewed-beer-at-white-house

"After looking through 200 years' worth of records, White House Curator Bill Allman announced that the Obamas had made history.
"We have no record of beer brewing at the White House," Allman said, noting that even the gourmand Thomas Jefferson never actually brewed beer in the White House.
Founding Father George Washington was a noted homebrewer, as The Hill notes — but he never lived in the White House, so he's out of the running for this distinction."

I wonder if any AL home brew supporters might use this to help their case.
