Wow. Just Wow.
I've heard about clubs with guys on power trips like that.
I founded my club 5 or 6 years ago with 2 other guys, all of us are still active.
We have about 25 or so members, of which about 15 are very active, only about 3 or 4 are "once year" types. We have 12 BJCP judges in that mix, too, so it's not like we are a bunch of slackers (well, we are slackers, but in a good way).
We have no dues. We have no rules, or charter, or officers, or anything. We have a free yahoo group email list, and we meet once a month at the Snoqualmie Falls brew pub. Otherwise, nobody gets their panties in a wad over anything.
I'd much rather be in a club like that than in one where you have to invoke Roberts' rules of order just to get an opinion.
