Empty Kegs- lost all my c02

Sun Nov 05, 2006 8:54 pm

I left an empty keg attached to a turned-on co2 tank. The tank is now empty. Is that normal, or do I have a leak somewhere?

It happens Tim.... could be a leak anywhere in the system.
Check all your connections etc.

I learned a loooong time ago, never leave your Co2 tank on unless it is being used. I pressurize my kegs and turn it off at night and only turn it back on if the pressure drops too low for dispencing.

I lost 5 gallons of beer and 5lbs of Co2 in one night and the beer was all over my new tile behind my bar. It worked great for 2 days but a hose popped off and made a huge mess.

I find it way easier to track down the leaks once, then never have to worry about it again. I leave my CO2 on all the time, unless the keg blows. The faucets seem better at stopping beer from passing than they are from stopping gas from passing.

Now that I think about it, I'm the same way! no beer passes by me, but I can pass plenty of gas!

so- not normal closed system behavior.

I think either the CO2 splitter my roommate built is leaky, or my roommate didn't check his keg for leaks. Either way, I blame him.

Thanks for the quick responses, brewing hermanos.
