Finished up Jamil's Kolsch from BCS last night. First time making this style so I'm using the Popes recipe first. This one should be lagering in the keg for about 4 weeks and bring me right up to July 4. Hoping its the right summer beer.

Currently mashing a BCS Irish Red as my second all grain. Already going better than my first all grain attempt, no mistakes yet and I was up to for or five by this point last time.

Brewing up a summer Hefe ... unfortunately, the LHBS did not have hallertau hops or WLP300, so I guess I'll be brewing a little different beer than I had planned. Have some Tettnang and Willamette on hand for the hops and the LHBS had the Wyeast 3056 Bavarian Wheat Blend, so we will see how it works. The best hefe for me is:

1 vial WLP300 per 5 gallons (no starter)
50% wheat, 25% 2-row, 25% pilsner
Mash 152
IBU's 18 with 1 oz Hallertau at 60 min per 5 gallons and .5 oz Hallertau at flame-out
Ferment at 64-65.

Produces a nice balance between the clove and banana. Will see what the new yeast and hops do for the beer.

On Tap: Barrel Fermented Berlinerweisse 3.2%; American Pale Ale 6.3%, Amarillo Blond 5%
Aging: Flander's Red in a 60 gallon Merlot barrel
Fermenting: Robust Porter 6.5%

Greetings BN. I'm new here, at least to the forums, been listening to a few of the archives the past few months (listening to April 2, 2006 right now). Relatively new to homebrewing, did a few batches in college 20 years ago then picked it back up few months ago.

What's brewing:
Right now I have Boundary Waters Wheat boiling on the stove (from midwest supplies) and in the fermenter is Austin homebrew's anniversary IPA.

What's drinking:
Ninkasi Oatmeal stout at the moment. After that I have my very own Scottish Ale (from Northern Brewer) and then my very own Porter (from Austin homebrew).

I'm about to start my boil right now. I'm brewing Jamil's English Mild (by request) for a party in a few weeks. I'm going to let it sit on Oak like I did the first time I brewed this.... turned out real nice last time. This will be the first time brewing it All Grain, so I'm hoping it will be even better....

Second time brewing this week. It's too nice of a night to do nothing. Tweaking an amber ale that's pretty close to CYBI Stone Levitation Ale.

Just about ready to fly sparge my Belgian Golden Strong Ale. Man, what a simple and cheap recipe! It's all about the yeast and proper temp control...
