Atlanta, Georgia Water Analysis

Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:49 pm

Does anyone have a water analysis for municipal water in metro Atlanta? Gwinnett County specifically, but as the Hooch is the source for everyone, any county/city will probably work. I'm brewing a Munich Helles soon and would like to work on the water for this one.

Thanks grainman. I might send a sample off as well to get some data specific to Gwinnett water, but this is definately a good starting point.

Hey keelanfish. I asked Mr. Google for water analysis of Gwinnett Co and landed here. Did you get one from Ward yet? If so, I'm interested in the results. If not, I'll send one off and let ya know.

BTW, I was at the Peach State Brew Off last month volunteering as a steward. I probably tasted your English IPA. Nice job on bringing home the hardware. Prost.

Glad to see more Atlanta brewers! I'm not in town anymore but lived there for a long time. Where are the cool brewpubs nowadays?

Everywhere!!!!
I am glad to say that around here lately it has been super easy to find good beer!!! I am finding little to no reason to go to great lengths to find good beer bars. Some of my favorites are as follows

Melton's App and Tap (N. Decatur rd and Scott Blvd)
The Porter (L5P)
Midway (East Atlanta)
Brick Store Pub(Downtown Decatur(although the service is slow and can be a little uppity))
Leon's Full Service(Downtown Decatur)

Sweetwater and Terrapin are still kicking ass and we're about to have a new brewery open up in L5P called Wrecking Bar Brewpub :pop (Congrats Chris, if you read this!!) that we're very excited about. Twain's in Decatur has been making some pretty good beers as well. I have been meaning to make it by 5 Seasons Brewing but have not yet.

these are just a few, good beer just keeps getting easier and easier to find!!! :aaron :aaron :aaron

Also, anyone in the area that doesn't know yet, Ale Yeah! opened recently in Oakhurst selling a lot of hard to find beers (I have seen Cantillon there, but they don't have any now!) and some homebrewing supplies and is pretty cool!!
