Re: Very Cloudy Fermentation with WLP500 - WTF???

OK, I added a packet of Knox gelatin to the conical last night (about a cup of cold water for 10 minutes and then heated it to nearly boiling, then cooled a little and pitched it in).

I was hoping to keg this beer tomorrow (Friday), but I'm not sure if this will be enough time for the gelatin to do its thing (about 36 hours). Yes, this is my first experience using the stuff.

What's the general consensus on wait time after doing a gelatin addition?
Drinking:
1.071 version of Tasty APA
Russian Imp Stout
Oak aged Porter w/Tart Cherries
Fermenting:
Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout - 1.093 OG
Aging:
Belgian Dark Strong with Brett

For me, it's a few days to noticeable effects, a week looking clear, and two or so it's looking filtered.

OK, that leads to another question...

Since I did add the gelatin to the conical, and I am planning on kegging only 2 days later, would it be a problem letting the settling process continue in the kegs? I need to free the fermenter up pronto.

I add gelatin in the keg. I don't see how your process would be any different. If the gelatin's mixed into solution in the fermenter it'll transfer into the keg and continue to work.
