Strong Wheat Ale

New recipe I have been working on...
(5.5 Gallons)

13 lbs 2-row
2 lbs wheat malt
2 oz Centennial 60 min
2 oz. Sorachi Ace 10 min
2 oz. Cascade - 1 min.

Safale 5 or WL-001
OG 1.070 FG 1.010 7.9% ABV

Those Sorachi Ace hops are weird, although they may go perfect with a wheat beer.

The "lemony" quality goes great with the sweet flavor of the wheat malt... It is the best use I have found for them. This batch has gotten rave reviews from my friends, so I thought I'd share the idea. Everyone describes it as deceptively powerful - it doesn't taste like a high gravity beer, but it packs a wallop.

2# in a 15# grain bill (13%) and calling it a wheat ale...I don't know man, i'll add that much to an ipa for a boost in body & head retention with only slight flavor impacts. i'd boost that number to a minimum of 30%, but more like 50% sounds right to me to get a wheat ale. 2cents added

Add more wheat! read Brewing with Wheat by Stan H, plenty of wheat ideas there.

I have a 50/50 pale malt raw wheat beer dry hopping with amarillo and simcoe right now. This is basically whit malt list that I forgot to put the oats into. Brewed with an english yeast if dropped crystal clear

I only posted this because I was trying to figure out what to do with some lemony smelling Sorachi Ace hops and thought that they would be good with wheat malt. I just called it strong wheat ale to let my buddies know why it was cloudier than my usual house IPA. I'll try 50% wheat malt next time...
