Clone Recipe for Sierra Nevada's Blackbird Camp beer?

Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:06 pm

Does anyone have a recipe to clone Sierra Nevada's Blackbird? My wife and I went up to Chico a couple months ago and tried this. It was an India Dark Ale, Black IPA, Cascadian Dark Ale, which ever you want to call it. It was fantastic!! From my understanding, it was camp beer in which they invited guests to come collaborate and brew a batch of beer on their equipment. I wish Sierra would bottle this! I almost want to make the 3 hour drive up there to pick up a couple more jugs to take home. I haven't found any info on the web and wouldn't have the first idea where to start with this.

Any advise on where to begin, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

John

Since it's not anything they're going to offer commercially outside their taproom, they'd probably part with the recipe if you asked nicely. I'd shoot 'em an e-mail. Something along the lines of "any tips you could give me If I want to brew a beer similar in flavor profile to..."
"If God had intended us to drink beer, He would have given us stomachs."

Thanks Elbone. I might give that a try. You never know, it just might work!
