That and it takes a butt load of money to get there.

You make a great point. As excited as I am to have the NHC here, the need to volunteer is greater than my desire to just attend. We've already had a meeting about the requirements to pull this off and good lord is it daunting. We have a hardcore crew, but it's going to be a lot of work. I hope a lot of you will be able to make the trip as San Diego is a great family destination as well as an incredible beer city and you'll be treated well if you make the trip.

Hell, you might even get to meet me!!!

Maybe, but we'd all end up arrested and have to make our beer in a Mexican prison.

EagleDude, if you can guarantee this I'm there. San Deigo sounds a little gay to host this event.

I would love to see SD again - have not been since the mid-80's - and check out the craft beer scene there and get meet you and other So Cal BNer's. As long as my son's college graduation is not on the same Friday as the NHC, I'll be there. I have explored the Portland/Eugene and SF Bay area beer spots - San Diego, Seattle and Belgium are on still my to do list.

Congrats on getting enough people to step up to the plate to make this happen. As frustrating as it is to the East Coast folks not having an event there, I don't think it is the AHA not wanting to be on the east coast. I suspect there needs to be a east coast beer community that needs to put some effort in wanting to host, bringing it strong so to speak. Maybe Dogfish Head or some other substantial east coast craft beer maker can be the spark to create momentum for an east coast swing.

Just as Doc and others mentioned most of the time 10% of a club members do 90% of the work (I was a board member of a club for several years - in our club about 10 members of the 200 did most of the work), this is one of those activities where you need 90% of several clubs to pitch in and pull this off if you want to host a national event.

I think it is near the end of the year (October?). The AHA sends out an email and they annouce it on the BN Session when tickets go on sale.
