Look, let's cover a couple reasons why we didn't jump in here with a recipe.

First off, I doubt any of could brew it. I may not like their product, but I respect the hell out out of their process. They've nailed every single aspect of their brewing down to a science. Just a guess, but for a home brewer, it would cost a hell of alot to get our equipment up to the point where we can even think about attempting it.

The second reason is one of "why?". Look, for the cost of ingredients, you could just buy him 3 cases of beer from the store. On our level of brewing (unless you buy grains by the pallet load, and hops in 50lb sizes) you can't brew a beer like this for a reasonable price.

The better question is "He likes PBR. What can I brew him that he would like?". Good god, the answers would have flooded in. Personally, I think a Blonde would be excellent. Nice and smooth, and it's an ale so you could have it done within 3 weeks.

Even in the lager category, we could help.

Not that they would want to, they just don't have the technology to do so. They might get close, but it would sure as hell be a lot better

I tasted a 45 point american light lager at a recent competition. It was spectacular. 2nd best of show (losing only to the IPA that beat me in MBOS). As an unfiltered, fresh version of this product, I have to say, that kind of beer can taste good when done well. Would it be my first choice? No. But, obviously someone must have liked the flavor if the style developed, right? For those who say that it's not worth the cost of ingredients, I would say that nailing this style would be an excellent way to perfect your brewing skills, and one of the only ways you'll taste a beer of this style that actually tastes good.

Well, look, I lived in both places. In Texas, I lived next door to a drive through ammunition and liquor store. People up here don't believe a place like that could exist. It does. If I needed ammo and a bottle of Jack, holy fuck, I didn't need to get out of my car.
