Good Low gravity recipe for WLP530 or other belgian strains?

I hate making a giant starter and not get any beer out of it. For most high gravity Belgian recipes, a large starter is required to grow yeast to an appropriate pitching rate. Last time I made Jamil's Belgian Pale Ale with WLP 530, but it was too phenolic and did not taste good. I'm still drinking it, but I'm wondering if there is a better recipe. Btw yeast re-pitched made an awesome Belgian Dark Strong.

Does anyone have a good low gravity (1.040 -1.050) recipe for WLP 530, 550 or even 500?

I'm planning to do the same thing. I don't have a recipe that I've done before, but I'm planning on using the patersbier kit from northern brewer (or the recipe). It uses the same yeast, and I'm assuming it was a tested recipe.

Did you end up making this beer? What fermentation temps did you use?

I'm planning on brewing it on Saturday, and splitting it between the WLP530 and WLP 550 yeasts.

I made a version. 1.045 of Pils, 20 IBU of hallertau and WLP 530. Smells nice, but I haven't tasted it yet.

I'm still trying to comprehend this "low" gravity thing. you mean there's lower than 1.085?

check out zymurgy 3-4 issues ago for a low gravity blond with cardamom and a few other low gravity belgians. just took the blond out of the fermenter.

I know. Seems strange. Why spend 5 hours making a 4% beer when you can spend 5 hours making a 9% beer?

I did the same thing but used the Wyeast Duvel strain. Used the slurry to pitch into a golden strong ale and dark strong ale.
