Brew at the Zoo - Pittsburgh, PA

Hey guys (and gals)...
Just wanted to give a heads up on a beer tasting/fundraiser that is coming up in the Pittsburgh area. It's call Brew At The Zoo. This is the third year that it's going on - my first year for attending - it is at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. There is supposed to be food, beer, live music from a couple of local bands. I think a buddy of mine from college is in a band that will be playing - not that I'm calling myself a fan, I haven't even heard it. if you go and his band sucks... don't blame me.

Just wanted to share with everyone... they are trying to do more for beer in Pittsburgh and I think this is a step in the right direction. Check it out... hope to see some of you there!!

This sounds great...being from Pittsburgh I try to keep up with the local goings on..
Unfortunately I am never there when there is a beer event...If you don't mind I would like
to see some pictures, etc..., from the event...Good to be reminded of home once in a while.

You may not be around for this one, but there is another one coming down the road - I think in September. It's called the Steel City Big Pour. It's a similar type of event - $45 gets you in for tastings, food from about 20 different restaurants from the area and all kinds of raffles for things like kegerators and such. That's a pretty good one.

I'll see what I can do you for on the picture front.

i may have to try and make it back home for the Big Pour, sounds like fun...they do Brew at the Zoo in baltimore too...i went to the first one, they under-planned for the turn out...long lines, short on beer and porta-potties...they will get it right eventually.

have anyone been to the haufbrau haus in pittsburgh yet?

The Big Pour is a lot of fun. This is going to be my first year to the Brew at the Zoo, but I went to the Big Pour last year and it was very cool. They had an entire crew of female iron workers pouring and shaping molten iron. They had people doing chainsaw carving stuff... the key was the good beer with really good food to help keep you sober. Some of the restaurants would even hand out coupons for a free drink at their place or a free appetizer.

Steel City Big Pour Link... the tickets for that one don't go on sale until early August. I'll post for that one when it gets closer.

SHIIIIIIT....big pour is a week early...I'll be there the weekend after on my way to the GABF.
