Re: Hop Scheduling

I just did a pale ale with this hop schedule:

.25oz Chinook - 60min
.25oz Brambling Cross - 60min
.25oz Argentine Cascade - 60min

.25oz Chinook - 30min
.25oz Brambling Cross - 30min
.25oz Argentine Cascade - 30min

.25oz Chinook - 15min
.25oz Brambling Cross - 15min
.25oz Argentine Cascade - 15min

.5oz Chinook - Flameout
.5oz Brambling Cross - Flameout
.5oz Argentine Cascade - Flameout

It's actually a scale back of an amber ale that I've done with roughly the same hop schedule, but twice the weight. Also, I used Chinook, EKG, and Willamette for the amber. I'm anxious to see how the Argentine Cascade turns out as it's the first time I've used it. I may dry hop some of it with all three hop varieties.

Just so that you are aware...
Argentine Cascade are not a sub for American Cascades. Really wish that they would be forced to rename it to avoid confusion!
Of course, you may have already had known that -just wanted to point it out.
Argentine Cascade is a pretty nice aroma hop. Just a heck of a lot more in line with a noble such as Tettnang or Spalt.

Thanks, D Rock. Yeah, it actually mentioned that on the L.D. Carlson label: "NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR U.S. CASCADE. SIMILAR TO TETTNANG / SPALT."

I've never used Tettnang or Spalt - so I don't have a go reference for how it might turn out.

I would have to say it has a really spicy character to it.
Cheers!
