I used epoxy. I got up this morning and gave it a spin, ran it at high speed for about 20 minutes, and there were no problems. It does shake quite a bit, but I think once I get it screwed into place, it won't be so bad. I'm using a plastic enclosure from Radio Shack, and I think I may need to put some weight in the bottom to keep the thing nice and still, but that shouldn't be an issue.

It shouldn't shake unless something is out of balance.

Oh, it's definitely not balanced. I had to kinda eyeball it. The magnet is large and unusually shaped, so finding its center of gravity wasn't easy. I got it pretty close, but it's definitely not spinning balanced.

Finally getting close to done with building my stir plate. It's looking sweet! Pictures coming soon when I finish the plate and get my stir bars (didn't get any stir bar retrievers thought! :D )! Wouldn't even have gotten this far without the BN!

Nice Box! I built mine and I went cheapo - i work in tv so we have millions of empty beta tape cases laying around so I put my fan inside one of those and it is a perfect fit. As for the magnet I just let it stick to the fan by itself and when the fan spins it self centers and does not fly off.

Hey whatever works, right! Interesting that you didn't glue down your magnet. I had thought about that, but did glue mine down anyway. By the way, I just used mine for the first time for a July 4th brew session and it worked out great and I have a very short lag time on my beer (in spite of being out of O2 to help out the yeast)! I think for me the entire project cost was approximately $23, but that was only because I had to purchase enough wood for two boxes (I bought 2 x 2 boards 1/4" (lid and base) and 1/2" thick (sides)).
