I used to use all glass. Switched to plastic, and never looked back. I don't secondary. After 10 days or so in a plastic primary (ale), I use a cornie for a brite tank/cold crasher, then on to serving keg. I still have all of my glass carboys that I will employ when I get a lagering fridge set up.

Im using 2 glass primaries and 2 glass secondaries. Saving up for a heated/cooled conical. I would not bother with secondaries except for the fact that i have 2 6.5 gallon carboys and 2 5.5 gallon carboys. When I rack to the smaller ones it usually fits perfectly minus the trub.

I am using 1/2bbl kegs for fermenters. I still have the buckets and have recently been lagering my first Pilsner in glass carboys.

I'm still using the plastic bucket i got with my kit 4 years ago for primary. I'm pretty anal about keeping it clean and storing it with sanatizer so it has been treating me pretty well.

-i use glass for secondary-

I am looking at getting a 6.5 carboy though so i can have a few batches in primary at once.

I keep dropping hints about a conical for birthdays and christmas... but sadly, to no avail.

I'm using PET watercooler bottles. Nice and clear, don't scratch much and you can see through them. Just like little carboys but they dont take out an artery if you drop one.

Gonna try to build a conical.... if it works I'll post pictures, if it fails disasterously, I'll post my horrible tale of woe

I use both glass and plastic now. I started 14 years ago in plastic. I went to glass primary and secondarys for the past 5 years. Now I'm using a 7 gallon plastic bucket for a primary sometimes and for bottling other times. I don't have any problems with the weight of the glass. I have never had a problem with cleaning, I just grab hold and slosh the living shit out of the thing. The only reason I went to glass was that all of my plastic was scratched after years of use and some abuse.
