A pump for the whole mash?

Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:08 am

Does anyone know where to get a pump that can actually pump the mash (water and grains) ?.

I was looking at a German brew-house design where a pump is used to constantly pump the mash through a heated pipe in order top raise or hold its temperature. I'm intruiged by this.

The WHOLE mash? Grain and all?!

Wouldn't you lose all the recirculating (clarifying) benefits?

I'm more looking for the mixing benefits (similar to having a stired mash), which may not exist when I use a RIMS/HERMS system due to the slower flow (unless you reverse the flow and blow in from the bottom).
