Re: How to go from Extract to AG for < $10.00

Roylee,

I am about to PM you a link that will explain it all very thoroughly. Its to another beer forum and its OT in this thread, thus the PM. No chill is quite popular in Australian homebrewing circles. 10 straight years of drought and very tight water restrictions will do that.

Anyway, check your PMs OK

That is some cool shit brother. (Hulk Hogan voice....just because)
I don't know that I am willing to change up my method but that is awesome that you can prove that it does work. Great post.

Nice - have not read all the posts, but with my extract stand (inlcudes March pump, Heat Exchanger, all SS QD's and Stainless Braided Teflon hoses), I could run a sparge setup with this still as an adder to incerase eff. Great idea! I have to admit, I wondered if anyone made bags that big as I had a whimsical thought about this a few months ago. Can not wait to try it - IPA, here I come!

OK.....ex pat Aussie here in the UK
Just moved to extract but this method seems to be the way to go for All Grain. Haven't seen any blog in UK forums about this; so would be keen to spread the word.
Does this work!!!! :!: :?: :!: No extra equipment (apart from fine curtain mesh) and no chill (is this some holy grail of brewing)!!!

Speak to me brother and let the fruits of your labour resound in the UK

well, not quite no extra equipment. You do need a big pot. If you have been doing your extract in a 20L pot, then it wont be big enough.

40L is about the lower limit... but for instance, a 50L boiler that had a former life as a sanke keg is perfect for a BIAB boiler for a standard 5G batch

Apart from that...yes, a few dollars worth of curtain sheer, and a 20L HDPE jerry can... and you are into AG

cheap, very simple process, fast brewday vs other methods and perfectly good beer.

And not my labour - I can't claim any credit for coming up with this stuff, I'm just the happy messenger

I just scanned it. But sounds like a great method to get a taste of all grain. Of course all the perfectionests will whine. But who cares all grain is all grain, Beer is Beer. Brewin is brewin. Fun is fun. :bnarmy: :jnj

Cheers :D :D

Just need to source a keg (currently using a 20L pot for extract/kits)

Is it true the best temp to use is 78 degrees (as oppossed to 62 - 64 degrees). I think I read it somewhere else :?
