Don't even get me started on people who ferment in plastic buckets instead of glass carboys...

Thanks, I bought a kit that includes StarSan and PBW... its not that expensive and I'm sure I'll be happy after reading up on Star San.
Thanks again

+1

You may really want to consider picking up a 6 or 6.5 gallon carboy as your primary. If you continually use your plastic fermentor... even if you are super vigilant about cleaning/sanitizing... you're running the risk of spoiling your beer after 5-10 batches. It also makes me weary that you go back to the plastic before bottling.

Also, +1 on iodafor. If diluted properly, it is definitely no rinse, and you have nothing to worry about.

There is a Sunday Session and/or a Brew Strong episode that covers why PBW and Starsan are the absolute shit. Gets pretty technical, but it makes you understand why you should be using the real shit.

I've got a small food grade bucket with a lid, that I mix my starsan in. I use a 2 1/2 gallon plastic bottle square thing of distilled water from the store. That way I have sanitizer for at least a month of brewing.
Love the foam.

I also use PBW/Starsan. I will make up 2.5 gallons of Star San to clean kegs and carboys and shake them up a few times. I also like to make a small spray bottle of star san with distilled water to keep around. I have one plastic bucket I keep with PBW that has a spigot and make it easy to move to carboys and kegs. I keep the Star San in a old pin lock keg that I don't use anymore.
