 That's me...ridin' the fairys around the islands! FYI, the politically correct term in the islands is "mahoo". (Actually, I'm really not sure how politically correct that term is so be careful using it around those big mahoo island boys if you happen to meet any, Mylo!)

If you use mahoo around a mahoo you might just get a big hug before he takes you home....

And the biggest ferry of them all is the Superferry - if you really want to ride the big one. My hunch is that you are taking Expeditions from Lanai to Lahaina. The local Sierra Club and other eco-nazis are all up in arms against the Superferry (which basically serves the residents and local commerce (including farmers) at a much lower carbon footprint than a jet airplane which seems to contradict the entire global warming premise), but say nothing about the monster cruise ships that are here much of the winter shuttling tourists around.

I do a lot of fishing over in Lanai and we take the little ferry to Maui the locals take to go shopping sometimes. As far as the Supaferry goes, it doesn't stop at Lanai, of course, but a lot of the local fishermen and hunters along it's route aren't too happy with it, either. I hear from the other guys it's making it too easy for guys from the other islands to raid their favorite fishing spots. Poundin' fo ulua and whippin' fo whateva off da rocks is hard enough as it is with all the fish disapearing the way they are. I have heard the fish population has been making a bit of a comeback lately, though. Anywhoo, not much to do on Lanai...fish, hunt, drink....thus the homebrewing! :aaron

Fishing, hunting, drinking, making homebrew. What more do you need?

I had a Lanai in Tampa. Of course, there - they call it a Florida room. The fairies were in Ybor City.

As I understand it the shoreline fisherman on Maui are upset shoreline fisherman from Oahu are coming over. I guess love for your fellow Hawaiian stops at the county line. (Maui, Lanai and Molokai are part of Maui county, so we can have ferries between these islands without protest). And I thought the Kamehameha I ("The Great") united us into one big happy Hawaiian family all after he traded sandalwood for guns and brought all of the Hawaiian islands under his control.

The Sierra Club attorneys are making a bunch of money with their billable hours that are being paid by the taxpayers.
