Oh and BTW, http://www.williamsbrewing.com has Northern Brewer, Cascade, and Centennial. Their hops run about $34-$39 per pound and are generally packed in 2 oz barrier packs. I've seen higher prices. Enter BREW at checkout to get $5 off a $50 order.

My OG on this was a little high 1.066 instead of 1.061 as suggested on the recipe - maybe not enough water at the beginning? I used 6 gallons of water before extract was added as shown on the recipe. Another source suggested topping off to 7 gallons after all extract was added.

Tommorrow will be a week at 68F and tonight the bubbling has become much less active. I used a blowoff tube for the first 3 days and now have the 3 piece airlock. Shoud I take a gravity reading tommorrow or just leave the thing alone for another 2-3 weeks and take the gravity when I transfer? Probally can shift over to that 3 bubble airlock pretty soon.

I'm gonna brew another kit this weekend, so I'll have something to do anyway.

I brewed his American Brown from Brewing Classic Styles and tried to give credit where credit is due when I entered it in Commander Saaz as "Tasty's BCS Brown Ale." Ended up with a nice little silver medal to hang on the wall!

Sorry, it was not my first, but you know it will always be my favorite :)

I want to try that too - but I think it is called Janet's Brown Ale? In memory of Tasty's wife.

It's always nice to hear when a beer that was inspired by that recipe wins a medal. It's the first recipe I developed and of course there's the personal meaning. Those who have brewed it get a good idea of what kind of beer I like and why they call me Tasty. I'll be dryhopping mine tomorrow morning. WOW. I've the American Brown in one fermenter and the Pliny The Elder Clone in another. Thats 20 gallon if deliciousness. I love this hobby.

Yes, that's the one. "Janet's Brown Ale" on page 143. Tremendous recipe, fantastically tasty. doesn't fit terrifically well the American Brown Ale BJCP category, but I don't care. It is balanced and delicious. It's more like an India Brown Ale I think.
What's on tap: Cream Ale, Imperial Blonde
Secondary: British Amber,
Primary: APA

Just before transfer to the keg. Day 21 in the carboy at 68F.

Soaked the keg with Star San and purged it with CO2 before transfering.

I had to reset on Grow-vember last weekend.
