force carbonating 1 gallon of beer in a 5 gallon corny keg

is it advisable to force carbonate a 1 gallon expeirmental batch in a 5 gallon keg or would I be wasting a lot of CO2, if bottling this batch aprox. how much corn sugar should I use per 12 ounce bottle?

I'd call it using CO2 rather than wasting it. CO2 is pretty cheap, and it is serving the noble purpose of protecting your beer!

Fill the corny right to the top with a no-rinse sanitizer like starsan or iodophore. Push all the sanitizer out with CO2. If you set it up right, you should be able to put that one gallon in there by siphoning through the out tube and never opening the lid at all.

I do partial fills of cornies all the time, particularly with wine because it comes in 6 gallon kits.

Nah, shove some siphon tube over the threads of a black flared corny quick disconnect. Might take a little hot water to get it on there. I'm pretty sure the barbed connectors are too small.

If you are racking from a bucket, then either use the spigot or an autosiphon. If you are using a carboy, then either start the siphon by fitting an orange carboy cap and CAREFULLY pushing with a little CO2 or filtered air or use an autosiphon.

Don't forget to open the relief valve on the corny or you won't get very far!

Of course you could just open the lid and use a long racking cane. I doubt you will gain much air in that corny while you are filling and constantly pushing CO2 out the lid by filling it from the bottom.
